Ziggy Marley Visits
Israel
The situation in
northern Israel didn't deter musician Ziggy Marley from visiting Israel
in early August. While other musicians cancelled their concerts, he simply moved the site of his concert from Achziv in
northern Israel to the amphitheater in the municipal park in Ra'anana.
Marley, who recently
released his second album titled Love is My Religion, brought a
message of peace and love to Israel. At a meeting in Tel Aviv with about
40 representatives of Israel's Ethiopian community the day after his
concert, he expressed partial support for Israel's recent actions in
Lebanon, saying he believes that everyone has the right to defend
himself. War isn't the solution to conflict and the current situation is
a temporary one, he added.

Ziggy Marley and Asher Elias
Israel's Ethiopian community warmly welcomed
Marley, the son of Reggae legend Bob Marley. They presented him with the
medallion that the
Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation recently released to mark
the 20th anniversary of Operation Moses, in which 8,000 Jews made aliya
from Ethiopia. Leading artists and activists from the community
participated in the meeting, including Asher Elias (in photo above

study computers so that they can pursue a career in high-tech.
